As a starting point to answer your question.
Go to your wireless accesspoint configuration page..
then look for Security, MAC ADDRESS filtering .. here you should input your computer(s) mac addresses.
then on SSID, change the name, enable WEP or WPA or WPA2, and create a password.
Read the manual..
Hi.
I have a USRobotics 9106 modem router, and after having just installed a wireless receiver card in my second computer, and running the "scan for networks", i found my own modem router broadcasting loud and clear, but also 2 others locally. One had a padlock on it, the other was open.
Sadly, so was my own... open I mean.
I would like to make certain that the ONLY people using my connection are myself and my second computer.
I have no idea about these things, so could someone explain in plain easy English the steps I need to take to lock down my network connection and prevent anyone ever from piggy-backing on my broadband.
Thanks in advance ![]()
