Resolved Question

Secure Connection Failed on all Browsers. Need help!

Apr 27, 2015 8:31PM PDT

I have a Macbook Pro and just recently, I haven't been able to log into Facebook with any of my browsers (Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome). It says pretty much the same thing for all of them - that the secure connection failed or some error occured. This is also happening for other websites like Amazon (especially when I use a proxy like AnonymoX). These are big websites, so it is rather confusing to me

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Sounds like you ask the PROXY folk.

Installing, configuring proxies can do what you are complaining about. Go back to stock and it should clear up.

If you have a proxy issue, take that up with the proxy support site/forum.

Stock means uninstall proxies and run everything as normal?

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your prompt response. So, when you say stock, you mean uninstall my proxy applications and things should go back to normal. And this is my first time using this forum, so I assume that there is a proxy forum within this site. I'll take a look. I appreciate it, Bob.

Your standard setup does not require a proxy.

I can't guess why you are using a proxy. Go back to a standard setup and it may work again.

As to proxy support I see it on the second link down on the left of https://www.anonymox.net/

Proxy issue perhaps
Apr 29, 2015 8:24PM PDT

Thank you, Bob! It never crossed my mind to even reach out to their support team. Thank you for leading me to the obvious, which wasn't very obvious to me. I will see what they have to say.

I uninstalled the proxy add-on and I am still unable to log onto FB or some other selected sites from my laptop. This is quite strange.

So you can get to FB but can't login?

Don't think it's a browser issue
Apr 30, 2015 7:47AM PDT

Because the same issue pops up across all browsers (Safari, Firefox, and Chrome). I looked at some forums for IP STACKING on Google and people seem to mention that you can't do that.

And FB is just one of the sites. I'm sure there are many that I can't access. It's not that I can't login to FB for instance, I can't even get to the homepage with the browser saying 'Secure Connection Failed.'

I uninstalled AnonymoX and TOR Browser and can't access their sites either to reinstall. AnonymoX support said my issue to an individual situation and likely has little to do with AnonymoX.

So you are dismissing the usual.

I fear it's between you and Apple to fix it now.

Remember I find those proxy and tor things to really mess up a machine. When I want to Tor I boot up TAILS OS. But that's another story.

Sorry to read your machine has taken a dive. Apple does have a refresh the OS and leave the user data/apps alone but given how everyone is ready for a drive/machine crash I think I'd do that first then wipe and do over.
