Hi all,
I have a HP ProBook 4740s with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. I have a separate monitor connected via hdmi. The monitor is a Samsung 24inch SyncMaster SA350. When I boot the laptop and login, the secondary monitor remains blank when I try to extend my desktop.
When I go to device manager I see two entries under 'Display adapters':
- AMD Radeon HD 7650M
- Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
If I disable the Intel option and then go to my Display - Screen resolution settings, there is no second monitor available even if I click detect:
If I then re-enable the Intel option that I disabled just a few seconds before, my second monitor starts working and my desktop is extended across both the laptop and monitor as desired.
Checking back to Display - Screen Resolution everything appears to be fine now:
At this point my second monitor is working correctly. This happens every time I restart the laptop. I simply go into device manager, disable the Intel option under 'Display Adapters', wait a few seconds and then re-enable it and it starts working.
Any idea what's going on?
