I have a dell xp laptop operating windows 10. I've been using a samsung s22e310 monitor as a second monitor for a few months now using a hdmi cable (my laptop only has hdmi output). Powered up the computer this morning and the second screen is blank.
I connected my old laptop (vga connection) and the screen worked. I've looked at the HD Graphics Control Panel, the second monitor is showing, the screen resolution and refresh rate are as recommended. I've tried a factory reset on the monitor. Window + P shows the screen is extended. When I move my mouse I can move it to the second screen (it doesn't show though). I've updated all drivers.
Nothing has changed, the computer was in sleep mode when I powered it up this morning. I've tried shutting the computer and the monitor down. I've searched through the forum but can't find a fix.
I'm wondering whether it could be a problem with the HDMI cable, but I know that the computer is connecting to the monitor. Can anyone help?
