Question

Search Loop

Oct 7, 2012 2:05AM PDT

Hi,
I use Thunderbird email and suddenly when I try to go to my Browser (Firefox) and my computer goes into a search loop and won't stop?
Also if I go to Thunderbird to get my mail, it displays the mail page but it won't bring up NEW mail, it just shows the older mail? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use XP and computer is Dell Inspiron. FireFox latest version.

Answer
Given no ideas so far, let's try the usual.

1. NO ADD ONS!

2. Don't go from Tbird to Firefox. Just launch Firefox.

3. Do not go from Firefox to Tbird. Just launch Tbird.

Ok I got rid of the add-ons and it no longer loops in the search bar but when I go to Thunderbird, the message on the lower left of screen says Looking up mail for Optonline.net but it's not looking, it appears stuck and does nothing!

Thank you for the earlier advice.

As to the Optionline issue.

You ask them to check settings, etc.

Back again, it stays in loop no matter what I do. Checked all settings with Optonline. NG. They say problem is in computer. If I use IE I can get webmail but I like Firefox and Thunderbird.

The message on the lower left of screen says Looking up mail for Optonline.net but it's not looking, still appears stuck and does nothing! Thinking of reinstalling Firefox etc. Suggestions?

You can try another Windows Account.

Since I can't check your settings the only new idea is another windows account and the old issue about trying to access email servers when you are not on their network. It's a shame ISPs don't explain that.

Hi,

I got to work but I'm not sure how! I reloaded Firefox and Thunderbird and it worked. Thanks for your help.
