Search function

I'm unable to search with either my Vista or Windows 7 computers the way I want. I can't seem to get it to search for folders. I type the name of the folder in the search box and it brings up programs or individual files. What setting do I need to change to have the search be more like XP?

What about extenal drives?

Thanks for the link. I was trying to drag and drop a folder from my external drive to the C drive when I accidentally let go and now can't find the folder. If I have an external drive connected and turned on, can I add it to the search location?

Yes...

You can choose to search any connected drive you have access to. In addition, you can choose to perform an advanced search (a link is displayed on the search results page), which lets you search all directories, regardless of indexing status. It may take considerably longer, but is very helpful in cases such as these.

Hope this helps,
John

I hope this will enable me to find my folders without as much irritation.
