Hi Tommy:

This is really more of a general discussion forum and not a tech support forum, but your question is a pretty simple one. Just highlight each item you want to get rid of and hit your DEL key.

You are welcome to stick around and participate in any discussions that interest you, though I for one find the "internet shorthand" you use a bit annoying. Is "any" really that much harder to type than "ne?"

Hi Tommy:

At this point it would help to know what browser you are using and what version. The method to fix this problem will be different in Internet Explorer than it would be in Netscape.

You may also want to post your question in the Browsers forum.

Maybe a browser "autocomplete" function?
Dec 9, 2003 11:56PM PST

Hi Tommy,

I don't have this problem, but know that on the rare occasions I use an unconfigured (e.g. as installed defaults) IE browser, it seems to automatically save anything I type in an input line. For example I have several Yahoo accounts and if I log into these with IE, it displays a "pulldown list" of other ID's I may have logged in with previously. Perhaps, then, it's the browser saving your entries and not the search engine. May want to list your browser to get more specific help to change this or ask about same in one of the more tech oriented fora.

Welcome to SE!

Evie Happy

Description
This clears your google search history in the toolbar and in the toolbar only.

Directions
A commonly asked question is how one erases the search history from the google toolbar. This method will delete the search history from the google toolbar only. You must erase your browser search history through other methods.

1. Click on the Google logo
2. Choose the Clear Search History option from the drop down menu.

All of your previous searches will now be removed from the drop down box.

Erasing IE's Browser History is a separate process entirely.
Erasing IE's AutoCompletion History is also a separate recipe.

Guess I'm just a little thick today Mary Kay. Your post above...
"From the computer of: AlexTheBeast"
"1. Click on the Google logo.
2. Choose the Clear Search History option from the drop down menu."

I can't find a Google logo that has a drop down list. Even tried to use logo's here:
http://www.google.com/stickers.html

and err...in this post: ."highlight but do not click the entries and click delete and hold they will all clear." I didn't try this as I do not want to delete mine, but ....another ddumb question...do I click delete and hold down on the delete key as I can't find a "hold" key on my particular keyboard..

The "Clear Search History" option is part of the Google Toolbar, which is a free browser add-on from Google. However, Tommy did not say whether he is using this utility.

It depends on if he's using the search at the Google homepage, or if he's using the Google toolbar which is a browser add-on.
