Search Engine Failure

I have a Toshiba laptop (Vista SP2, IECool that recently stopped allowing the Google search engine to find anything on the web. BING stopped searching, as well. Now I can't even pull up GOOGLE's web-page. I have a current version of AVG2011 on my computer, as well as a current copy of MALWAREBYTES that scanned without errors.
I checked all my Internet Explorer settings, connections, security levels and they are all reset to the default levels with no parental or site blockings.
I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and tried GOOGLE and BING through Firefox with no success.
Google Chrome worked for about a half hour, then stopped searching. I suspected a virus or Malware, but protection has been in place, and is current.

Strangely enough, if I go to my ISP homepage, they have a "search engine powered by Google" and it works fine. But only from my ISP's homepage.

Am I overlooking something?

Search engine failure

My apologies. That was a wonderful suggestion. When I try to open the computer refuses to go to that page. it stays on Internet Explorer's current opened page. If I try to type in anything in the BING seach bar, or Google search bar, the computer stays on the current page and refuses to search or show results.
