Resolved Question

Seamonkey, Win8, Google & Banking

Jul 30, 2013 7:16AM PDT

Hello all, over the last 2 - 3 weeks, I have been unable to access, through, SeaMonkey 2.19 & 2.17 most google websites (mail, plus), as well as many of my banking websites and a few others. Each time I try to access the aforementioned sites, I get "This Connection Is Untrusted" for some sites I can make an exception, but for most of them, no.

My dropbox 2.0.22 will not connect because "Can't establish a secure connection" issue. I have checked and resynched my dates and times and there appears to be no issues with them. I have fully uninstalled and renistalled SM at least 2x.

I have posted this issue in the Mozilla SM group and there has been no response which helps to solve this problem. These websites do work with chrome and IE.

Any suggestions or recommendations, very stumped.

TIA - bo1953

Robert, your posting encouraged me to go back and check ANY new program installed, which I might not have remembered.

Alas, there was only one during the time of the problem starting. Once uninstalling it, SM, dropbox and a few other programs affected went back to normal presentation and ability to use.

Thanks to everyone else who contributed a response or suggestion.

Warmest regards,

Can you tell what program that was ...

that had such a bad influence on Seamonkey, while not interacting with IE and Chrome?

Would be helpful to know in case another user comes here with a similar issue.

The Offending Program ...
Jul 31, 2013 2:38AM PDT

... was an e-Miles desktop notifier. It did not happen for several hours after installation and as such did not think it was that.

After reading some of the links Robert posted, I thought, go back to the Programs and Features section and do a sort on last date, many of the recently dated programs involved changes/updates to those already installed, with a lone program as being new. I decided to remove the eMiles desktop notifier and voila, that was it.

Thank you all, once again.

With browsers I've learned to use what works. In your case that's Chrome or IE, and maybe even Firefox. That's 2 out of 3 or maybe even 3 out of 4.
Should be enough to get the work done.
