Sealed box sales on ebay?

Feb 28, 2005 1:08PM PST

Is there some gimmick w/ebay sellers that have sealed boxes of Dell computers that are a few hundred USDs less than Dell's website? Does Dell honor the warranty transfers? Sorry if this has been brought up before. Thanks.

Dell does honor the transferrs . . .

. . . but where these people get the computers is lost on me. I really don't know where they're getting them.

Actually, about half the computers sell at above retail prices, because they get feverishly bid on at the last minute. Dell Outlet is usually a much better way to go than eBay in this regard.

Fever bidding. My thoughts, too, to buy from Dell just to be safe. How they are getting these machines is puzzingly.

It was not funny...

There was a recent posting here about this. The posted was very excited about the "sealed box" laptop, but on the ebay web site were pictures of the unit out of the box and well, it's not a sealed box... Maybe they tape it up again?

The deal looked crooked as you read about some western union wire transfer and more.

Not that all such things are crooked, but if something looks too good to be true, it likely is.
