I would.

As to what software, Apple has a disk utility to partition and format the drive for use with your Apple. That utility is supplied with the OS and machine so there is nothing to buy.

Seagate 2tb goflex

Thanks Bob,
For the time being, I am Apple challenged as I only took delivery on it a couple days ago. What is the name of this utility, and where is it located? I am the worm in the Apple, so far Apple is eating me!!

Disk Utility is located

in the Utilities folder which is inside the Applications folder.

Launch it and, if you have the Seagate connected, it will appear in the left hand pane.

Select the drive in the LH pane and check the Tabs in the right hand pane. You are looking to Erase or Partition the Seagate drive.

The format you want to choose is Mac OS X Extended(journaled)
