Seagate FreeAgent Drive Letter

Mar 26, 2010 6:25AM PDT

Recently I purchased a 500GB FreeAgent External USB 2.0 Interface hard drive, which I installed on my Vista. When I finished installing it, and for a period of time after, the drive letter assigned was F:\. I backed up Vista to it and upgraded to Windows 7. For a period of time after upgrading to Windows 7, it kept F:\ as it's drive letter. Then, about a week or two after, while I was playing The Black Cauldron on DOSBox 0.73, I noticed that the drive changed to G:\. I did not mount any drives, it didn't get disconnected or anything, I just suddenly couldn't access F:\ and it was then I noticed it was G:\. I am 100% sure it was F:\ previously because I had a link to it on my desktop which I had to change from pointing to F:\ to pointing to G:\ and in "Computer" it was named FreeAgent (F:\) now FreeAgent G:\. What could have done this, and how could I change it back to F:\?
