Yes, but beware FAT32 volumes on USB.

I won't discuss creation or formatting the drive on a Mac but after too many people bringing me drives for data recovery with the common theme I want to write that you should not trust a FAT32 volume to keep what you put on it.

I have a MacBook Pro. I was wonder what i should look for inorder to backup my files. What I don't know is besides (RPM, and #GB) what I need to in a HDD. People have been saying avoid FAT32 (is that a format?). What should I look for instead?

Said format is not set by the drive maker but you.

You only need to prepare the drive on your Mac.

As long as the first Computer the HDD "touches" is my Macbook Pro, it won't matter what external harddrive I use.
