SE w600i help

About a week ago I purchased the SE w600i from my provider. Its been working great, no problems whatsoever. However, last night the backlighing (phone and key pad) went off and still hasn't came back on. I thought it might have been because the battery was low (20%) and the phone turned the light off in order to conserve power. The light still will not come on even after 10 hours of charging or while hookd to the charger. Does anybody know how to fix this? Or is it a phone glitch? Thanks.
