104 posts made by 22 different people. There's one thread unreachable, but I gave it one post since that link was showing within the date range on front page. Average is about 21 posts per day. Our membership seems to be shrinking, or a lot of late vacations are in progress.

What would be interesting....

is a comparison of the topics discussed and allowed when the forum was still a ZD property vs what it has become now. I'd bet there were days back then when the forum had over 200-300 posts in a day and many were very impassioned arguments that we all enjoyed partaking in. DaveK and I could not have 90% of the arguments now that we had then, we'd both be banned.

Too bad we can't see those posts and see if

the envelope was pushed later. Look at comedy that was banned years ago and you'll see it's almost on the kiddie channels today.

Without name calling or using derogatory terms?

Even some of those were implied....

No one called someone else an idiot directly but they would make remarks like, "only an idiot would say that" in response to someone's post. You'll see the same rhetoric in upcoming debates during the political season because it's a regular practice in debates to paint a picture of how stupid your opponents position is on the topic of discussion. DOn't try it here though or you might get suspended or banned.

Ask some of the old timers here. DaveK and I had a number of bitter arguments over a number of topics and yet, we're still friends and still stay in touch outside of this place.

and if it was an election....you wouldn't get elected?

instead of making you own forum you could form your own political party...The Tea Party?

On a side note.

I noticed you mentioned you are still in contact with DaveK.

Without prying, I hope he is OK and things are working out for him. Any chance of seeing him return to the forums?

Posts have become predictable, so why bother to interact ?

I have noticed over the past year, that a lot of the "regulars" have quit posting as often... but then again James, you yourself, have pointed out on more than one occasion that SE has become little more than a trolls nest. Maybe people have grown tired of it?

An honest answer gets a judgmental response, or personal attack. The most common question asked on SE is "why are you not condemning this?"... followed by "why are you not condemning this as much as I want you to?".

Am I wrong?

not sure I've said that

I doubt I called it a 'troll's nest', but I have pointed out better to address the issue than the person for better discourse.

(NT) So much irony in this thread.
