My dad has the 550. He loves it. I would not buy a new 500 unless you are getting a great deal as new cannons are coming out right now.

I purchased the SD500 last summer and have used it to take travel photos and garden flower shots. Excellent small camera for my needs because it fits into the front pocket of my jeans.

I just purchased a 2 Gig SD card for $60. Included a $11 rebate from Kingston. Pretty cheap money. You will need at least a 1 or 2GIG SD card.

Joe Randolph recommends to take all your photos on the superfine mode.
Good advise.
The camera has so many features and settings on it, it will take you some time to figure them out. I am still learning. The SD500 is a mini computer that you have to learn.
Here is an image that I took last November using just the fine mode and hand held.
Not a bad shot.

That should give you an idea of the potential with the SD500.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
