SD Memory card help

I have a Kodak dx6490. I have been using a 256 mb Lexar memory card and it usually hold a couple hundred pictures, using the *best* quality option. It only held 40 today and after downloading those pictures, it's only holding 17. I checked the quality and it was set on *good*. Any ideas why this is happening.

Also, I'm assuming I will have to buy a new card. I checked prices on the Kodak 256 & 512 mb cards. Why would the 512 be $10 cheaper than the 256 mb? TIA!!

You should try formatting your Lexar memory card with the camera.
That will erase everything on the card.
And maybe your storage space will return to normal.

Prices on SD memory cards vary a lot.
What you found on pricing is not that unusual.
