Question

SD cards for older Sharp models

Sep 26, 2014 12:51AM PDT

Please excuse me for asking what is probably a very basic question but I've had no need to use these cards previously other than those ready supplied in a couple of simple digital camera's.

I've recently acquired a couple of Sharp Camcorders (a VIEWCAM VL-Z8H & a VL-Z3H) neither of which have cards in them. I believe I read somewhere that some were supplied with 8gb cards?

I've looked around and understand that there are various types of SD card and want to make sure I get the correct type and size. I'd like to put as large as possible but do they need basic SD which seem to be smaller? or will they take SDHC?

I'd appreciate any advice on this please, Many Thanks.

Answer
That came with an 8MB memory card.

From what I can tell the memory card was 8MB and not GB. It was for taking pictures and never used for video recording.

The video recording went to the miniDV tape. This is pretty old stuff and may upset folk that are not used to old firewire systems.

Sd cards

Many Thanks Bob, I stand corrected and will look for something suitable. Yes they are pretty old but I got them as I recently used a friends VL-Z to record footage of Lancasters with good results and the firewire download (whilst hardly instant) was easy. Tbh the end result doesn't seem a lot different to my eyes than video I took on a newish digicam, other than I found it easier to keep the Sharp steady and of course my fingers out of the way Wink

Anyway, Many Thanks again.
