SD Cards fit in SD Card slots.

Compact Flash cards fit in Compact Flash slots.

The slots are not compatible with each other so you use what fits each type.

There are converters

Konica-Minolta (and probably others) make SD-card converters that allow you to use them in Compact Flash slots. I don't know if they work in Type I or Type II slots (type II slots are thicker, I think).

Anyway, it's worth checking out.

Convertor fails in some devices.

Since there are issues galore with compatibility, I consider these convertors a "nice try" but not ready for consumers.

Probably right

I've never tried them myself. I figure it should work in my K-M camera, though. They cost as much as a good sized card, so one wonders if it's worth the bother (unless you have a bunch of cards already).
