Question

SCX3405FW Scanning not working

May 27, 2018 6:15PM PDT

Easy Printer Manager returns IO error message when I try to scan to PC. Printer/Scanner says "not available" after trying to connect if I try scan to PC function from there. However, the basic scan using the printer in Windows Control Panel works. So I suspect a software problem. (Have tried changing cables and USB ports but same problem results). Printing and copying work fine.
Have downloaded and installed Samsung driver and EPM software twice to no avail. DriverEasys says I am up to date.
I think problem may have started after last Windows 10 Update done on 16th May. Any suggestions on what to try next welcome.

Too many variables.

Time to call Samsung for their ideas as W10 1803 has to be lighting up their call center. They would have the best answers. Here I no longer scan over WiFi. Many reasons so I just scan to a memory stick as my printer+scanner supports that.

Scanning not working

My coworker and i have the same problem with our samsung printers.
Samsung printers have been sold to HP so you now have to contact HP for support.
She called and was informed that it is an issue with a Microsoft update effecting the scan driver. HP is not able to fix it and is waiting for Microsoft to fix.
I'm on the hunt to see if anyone has found a work around..

Fix found

Eventually I got through to a Samsung support technician who gave me a patch that fixed the problem. The hot fix is at this location https://ftp.usa.hp.com/hprc/ and you need to sign in
Account : print Password : Printer1
Download, unzip, run and restart.
I don't know if the fix is for the driver or Windows, but it worked. Except that printing more than one document at a time is slow as it takes a while for a printed document to be cleared from the queue.

1. Thanks for the post.
2. Went to the ftp site and tried signing in with the Account name: "print" and password: "Printer1". Did not work. Message "log in failed". Guessing the ID and/or password has been changed.
