You need to seperate your education from getting your products to work. Since http://www.google.com/search?&q=SCSI+FAQ finds documents which cover your "what is" questions.
When you sort it out to condense it down to I have this and want to use it with this OS and this application, then we can proceed. Beware that some SCSI tape drives are strictly historic dumpster bin finds and you need to just EBAY it for something that works.
Can someone tell me where I could find useful information about SCSI? There is so much specification, I'm getting lost.
I want to connect my tape drive (SCSI-2 fast wide) to a compatible SCSI adapter and also I want to find the right cable (68pin).
I have found a Diamond Fireport 40, which have a ultra wide 68 pin connector, and I have in hand a cable labeled "Single mode LVD terminator"
What is SCSI-2? SCSI-3? Fast/Wide?, Ultra/Wide?, LVD?, Single end?, Can I buy adapter that convert 68 pins non LVD to LVD's?
A link to a web site that explain all this would be very useful for me
