Screensaver on BD-P1600

by pedrofu / November 9, 2009 3:26 AM PST

Hi,

I just purchased a BD-P1600 and I got it because of the Pandora featue. However my TV is a plasma display and when I use Pandora I do not get a screensaver. I am worried that I would get burn in characters on my plasma. I looked for a screensaver feature on the menu but I could not find one. Any advice??

Regards,
Pedro Fuentes

Screensaver on BD-P1600

pedrofu,

The screensaver feature should kick in about 20 minutes of continuous play where no buttons are pushed. It's good to be aware of this for a plasma, however there is no way to activate the screensaver.

Good time for scrolling

I started to notice image retention in my Samsung plasma of the big SAMSUNG logo and other icons on the main menu of the BD-P1600. A good habit to get into while you're just listening to music on Pandora and leaving the TV on (which you have to if you have the AnyNET connection enabled...turning off the TV turns off the BD player) is to activate the Scrolling feature in the Screen Burn Protection menu under Picture Options. Clean your screen while enjoying Pandora!

shelbinator,

Wow, that's really great advice. Thanks for passing that on! Happy

But what about us SAMSUNG LCD TV owners?

My DB-1600 player kicks on the screensaver before the first song on Pandora even finishes. It sucks because I can never see the information on the screen. Is there anyway to extend it or turn it off altogether? You mentioned earlier that it kicks on after about 20 minutes. I wish mine would. It's more like 2 minutes. Help? Happy
