Screen turning off or computer freezing up

Jun 27, 2007 5:52AM PDT

Recently my computer has started to freeze up or the monitor has been turning off. This usually happens when I open up a couple tabs in Firefox or I start a game. For example, when I start up World of Warcraft the graphics start to flicker then my screen freezes up. If I continue to login then eventually the monitor just goes black. Could this be a problem with my video card, processor, the memory or all of them?

The specs of my computer are:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+
ATI Radeon X1600 XT
2 GB of memory
I am currently running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Try a simple test.

Remove the case cover and see if the fans are turning like new, leave the cover off and if it lasts longer it could be the old heat issue.

Fans

I've checked the fans, they are all working fine. I kept my computer off for 1 day and a half to let it cool down but it still has problems. I will try taking the case off and see if that works, but I'm not sure that it will because there is a fan embedded in the side of the case.

I am starting to receive the Delayed Write Failed error now, not really sure what the problem is though.
