i have netzero and windows 98 se. i've exhausted netzero's help and my own tinkering. my problem is that the displays[including cnet] is too wide for the monitor.pulling the sides in and out doesn't work and my print is already set at smaller. i'm at 256 colors and 600x800, things suggested by net zero, no effect. just so there is no misunderstanding the problem, all displays are so wide i have to scroll left and right to see everything. any ideas? gateway 17" monitor.

And there it is...

Many websites expect at minimum 1024x768 and millions of colors. Not all machines can do that, so those that can't... scroll.

thx for the reply. let me also say that i just dumped my old computor for this new one and didn't have the problem on the old one. does that clarify the problem a bit?

Sadly no.

You'll have to supply more information (i.e. that Forum Tip) and maybe an example web site.

Some are formatted that scolling is how they work.

thx again. my netzero email page is a great example. i don't want to just set the size to small or smallest as it's too small to read. any other ideas?

Just one idea.

Supply an example web site. I can't know what we are dealing without a specific example.

Try supplying the URL such as http://www.cnn.com

bob, i truly do appreciate your trying to help, but a url wouldn't help i don't think. let me put it this way: everything is too big, cnet, my email page, my nero cd program,my banks web page, anything i look at. does that help? harmonious

Maybe...

Think what Bob is saying, and alluded to in his first post, is go to Desktop, right click, select Properties, then settings, and change to 1024x768.
Just my opinion, but this should be the setting for a 17" monitor.
Clicking "View" and changing text size won't help much.
