Screen Sharing Problem

by Howards185 / September 6, 2009 10:17 AM PDT

I'm having problems screen sharing between an iMac running Snow Leopard and a G4 iBook running Tiger. I have been trying to remotely screen share the iMac from the iBook. I enabled screen sharing on the iMac, and set a password for VNC. Then I tried two different clients on the iBook - Chicken of the VNC, and JollysFastVNC. Both exhibit the same symptoms: they claim the password for vnc access is incorrect, but I KNOW the password is correct, and I have tried several different ones.

Please note that is not an exclusive Snow Leopard problem - I had the same problem with Leopard before upgrading this pas weekend.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. thanks. Howard

thanks for the suggestion, but I doubt if that will fix the problem. For one thing, after trying Chicken of the VNC on the iBook many times, I downloaded JollysFastVNC and tried it - It detected the iMac immediately, but when I tried to logon, I for the same "password incorrect" message.

I also noticed thet is I changed the vnc password on the iMac to something simple like "abc", the next time I opened thescreen sharing password panel it had many more than 3 characters.

I suspect that the preference file for screen sharing may be corrupted. Anyone know where it is and what it's called ?

thanks. Howard

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
