Question

Screen goes out when playing games

Mar 7, 2018 4:26AM PST

Hello,

2 days ago I bought and build my first pc, but when I'm gaming (World Of Warcraft, CS:S) my screen sometimes makes a weird noise and goes black, gets really grainy like when you don't have a signal on your tv and sometimes even changes the whole screen to purple . I'm pretty sure it's not the screen because I sent it back today and got a new one but the problem remains. Sometimes it keeps happening until I press the windows key and close the game. My monitor is a 'AOC g2460vq6', specs of my pc are: Ryzen 5 2400G, 8GB RAM and an MSI B350 KRAIT GAMING Motherboard. When I'm browsing on Chrome or watch videos on YouTube it never happens, idk what to do if someone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Answer
Frankly I'm not happy with Ryzens over a basic issue.
Mar 7, 2018 8:25AM PST

The run ins with Ryzens so far had me update the BIOS and start over the OS install then drivers and such. New and old users/builders seem to have developed a deep fear of the BIOS update but Ryzen systems too often arrive with out of date BIOS and issues follow.

There are other issues but this area of BIOS and a good Windows and driver install seems to haunt new builders. So many are trying to use Microsoft's default drivers that well, we know how badly that goes.

The next recurring issue is power supply choices. To stay out of trouble let's use single rail PSUs. OK?
