Today, Woot.com has some nice laptops for cheap.

You want this device used AT school?

Or something better in desktop at home and just bring home work using the older laptop?

Answer
between the two - chromebook

chromebook is easier to type papers on and to do research. ipad is okay but it is a tablet so you would have to purchase a separate keyboard and it is so expensive for what you get.

The thing is. They claimed it runs W10.

"Acer c270 Chromebook with windows 10 on it"

So while it was possible to hack W10 onto the c270 you would end up with the old netbook performance issues. I think that Woot refurb with the SSD would be very nice for school work.

Maybe all they need to be put the Chrome

Maybe they need to put the Chrome back into the Chromebook. I get to have a Chromebook because the office wants to be able to check out things on Chromebooks. The current model I have is a monster. I think I prefer my 13 inch one over my 15 inch Acer C83.

If they have a Chromebook, I don't think a newer Chromebook would be an improvement.
