Try the monitor on another PC to see if it's the PC.
If not, it's a goner.

My monitor just went "pop" and turned off one day while the computer was sitting there. (the computer stayed running) I wasn't doing anything very involved, just getting ready to email. I thought it was toast, as it would not turn on again and gave up. A few days later I came in to look at it, and the monitor light was on, so I booted up the PC and it worked! however, the screen is limited to about the middle 3rd of the screen and is stretched so that you cannot reach the "close window" or "minimize window" buttons on any webpages. Nor can you even see the bottom tool bar. I am running Windows 98 and it is a generic SVGA monitor ( I think, no brand markings). I tried reinstalling the monitor, and installing new drivers, but nothing has worked. If you have any ideas, that'd be appreciated. thanks!
