Scheduled Backup Will Not Run

Nov 13, 2004 12:38AM PST

I have a problem getting a scheduled backup to run. I have done this on Win2K with no problems. I am logged in as an administrator and the task scheduler is running. I am not sure what else XP wants. Any ideas? Thanks,

One possible reason is described in the following MSKB article:

Q310715 - "Scheduled Tasks Cannot Run with a Blank Password"

The workaround is presented in the " Scheduled Tasks - Applying/Running tasks without a password" from the following page.

While at that page, there are also other causes / workarounds.

Cetin,

I tried the registry edit presented at the site you gave, http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_s.htm, but it didn't work. It allowed me to create a task with a blank passowrd, but the task did not run at the specified time.

Cetin,

I tried the registry edit for the link you supplied, http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_s.htm, but it didn't work. It allowed me to create a scheduled task without a password, but the task would not run at the scheduled time.

Task schedulling has first to be 'enabled' as a service at 'Services', and then different tasks "schedulled" at 'Task Schedulling'.

Walt,

Read the answer under the original thread and continue the replies there.

If someone shows you a message (procedure) into another thread, you don?t have to reply there. You read it and contiune under the original thread.

Now this thread appears like it was hijacked by another person. It happens sometimes with random posters with ?I have the same problem? title.

Good Luck,
