Hi:
My name is Vince. I too, purchased an HP4570C flatbed scanner and it had Readris OCR software bundled, but I never installed nor used, since I also have Onmipage version 15 pro OCR software for scanning documents.
I agree with you why people do not e-mail original documents, hence, there there would be no need to scan or retype the document, if you want it in electronic format. Alternatively, you can scan the document to convert ir into electronic format.

I purchased a HP 4570C flat bed scanner. The software that came with it contained Readiris 7 Pro (OCR).
Just a while back I received an offer to update the Readiris for a cost of $125.
My HP scanner that had this original software bundled only cost $150.
Why is the update for Readiris necessary? And why so expensive? Anyone use this software?
I use another OCR software at work. Saves me time from typing in manuscripts that are sent to us.
I wonder why the customer does not email the original word doc? Sure would save time.
