Scanning to Word 2000

How can I scan a document to a word application so that I can re-type some information on it without re-typing the entire doc? I notice when I scan with my HP Visioneer using the OCR I get the gobbledegook characters and not the original document. Your kind help is appreciated. Windows ME, Dell Dim 4100, HP Visioneer

As noted in many articles (http://www.computerworld.com/softwaretopics/software/apps/story/0,10801,73023,00.html) OCR is not going to do better than 99%. Since there can be 100's of characters on each page, you will have to help it along.

The article also gives you a clue to push the scanning resolution up.

If you find a program that works well, please post the name. I've used a number of OCR programs and haven't found one that is any good.
