Scanning old photos

Oct 24, 2007 7:29AM PDT

I want to scan my favorite old photos so I will have a digital back-up. Have scanners changed dramatically in five years? I have an hp scanjet 4470c and a Dell 8200, Pentium 4, with Nvidia GeForce 3 with 64 MB. Should I spend the money to upgrade before I start the project? Thanks for your help.

For best results. PC $500.00-$700.00+, Photoshop software $250.00+.
