Scanner with feeder for 4x6 photos

Jun 19, 2010 1:58AM PDT

I have several hundred snapshots that I want to scan and caption. I do not want to ship them out to a service, as I like to adjust, crop and caption. Is there a scanner with a feeder capable of handling several photos?

HP Scanjet 5500c

I have a HP Scanjet 500c flatbed scanner with a 6x4" feeder at the top. I don't know if there are any newer models, but I purchased mine second hand a couple of years back.

It tends to work quite well, but I prefer to fine tune results with regards to cropping, adjusting colours etc because sometimes it is a bit hit and miss.

I believe some Epson scanners had an optional photo feeder attachment (Perfection 2480/2580) but I don't know anything about those and I guess you can't buy them new any more.

scan photos for 4 by 6 try Pandigital
Jun 26, 2010 12:21AM PDT

I have a Pandigital that scans 3 by 5 but the newer models scan a larger picture and they are so easy to use..a feeder with a sd camera card. I bought mine off eBay new but later discovered that from QVC could have got the latest model for the same price.. and Sears sells them also but only had the older models..it is a small unit that can go in your purse or briefcase and be ready to scan photos or calling cards or any smaller paper. I use mine all the time and it is great to use for the genealogy buffs..take it with you, scan the pic, come home and put in computer..so easy and fast..hope this helps..I caption mine after they are on the computer and if picture has writing on back, I turn it over and scan the back so I can keep up with who is who later.
go to qvc and they have the latest info and all this unit will do and what is included before you decide to try one..

Pandigital/Epson

Pandigital line looks interesting, but I don't see an automatic photo feeder available. It also does not appear that Epson has an APS.

Kodak?

You might want to check out the Kodak range of autofeed scanners - they have a number to suit different budgets.

An alternattive might be Fujitsu, who also make a range at different price points.

scanner with feeder

sorry I posted about the pandigital scanner and did not realize you were looking for automatic feeder..this scanner has a roller and will scan a picture as fast as you can load them by hand but not automatic and you can get a lot of pictures scanned in just a few minutes while you are watching tv ..and I use the 512 mb sd card but unit will take a larger card...and good luck with the automatic feeder.

Pandigital

I wound up buying the 5x7 600 dpi Pandigital from Amazon. I haven't had much of a chance to use it yet, but looks promising.
