Scanner that works with Vista?

Feb 22, 2007 5:42AM PST

My 7 yr. old hp scanner does not work with Vista. I downloaded the driver from hp but I can't get vista to recognize the scanner. It does show in "Cameras and scanners" but it won't work. I think it may be because it is suppose to be connected to the parralell port and I only have a USB. I'm ready to buy a new scanner. Don't want an all in one. I have a Canon Printer that works fine with vista. Is there a relatively inexpensive scanner that will work with Vista?

I am also having trouble getting drivers for my HP scanner. HP. says it could be a couple months or more on my HP 4890. I can scan with mine but only through paint.
I talked to a tech at Circuit City and he said the only scanner he knows of that has Vista support now is Epson and then you have to download a upgrade.
I have no idea what the price is, you could check on the internet.

I tried that driver and got nothing. I ordered a canon scanner this morning. It is on a list of vista compatible hardware. We shall see.
