Scanner problem

I have a conoscan d 123ou scanner. Have a sudden change after years of problem free scanning. When I try to scan in color, the little box in the drop down list that says color is shaded and the image to be scanned is yellow. If I switch to gray scale or black and white, everything is as it should be. What could be causing this?

That sounds like the sensor is failing.

The scanner element or sensor tends to go off color as it fails. The change to B/W scanning is a nice way to extend the units life as not everything needs to be color.

PS. Parts can be impossible to find, no one will offer a manual on how to replace it.
