Scanner or Multifunction

Feb 9, 2005 12:40PM PST

I want to scan and print photos, negatives, and slides. I already have a Deskjet 5650 printer. I don't know if I just need to get a scanner, and if so how much resolution I need for great images, or if I would get anything better out of a multifunction device like the HP 2610 Epson RX600 with regard to photo scanning and printing (not really concerned about the other capabilities). Would I be better off with a good scanner and the current printer, or will those multifunction printers be better and the scanners suitable? What can you tell me?
Thanks,
Tim
