Scanner driver loading problems with Vista Bus

Oct 3, 2008 11:58PM PDT

The scanner driver for my Lexmark X9575 will not load into my Dell Laptop XPS 1530 running windows core 2 duo/Vista Bus. with 4 gig ram 120 gig HD.

Dell cheeked out my USB drivers, all are OK. Lexmark checked out the printer drivers and all is OK. The printer scanner works fine from the Lexmark software on the computer (wirelessly or by USB), and everything functions correctly from the control panel on the printer itself. I can print to the printer from any software on the computer. But there are no drivers for the scanner listed in the devise manager for that matter the printer is not listed there either. Does Vista have any problems listed about loading drivers.

Any Thoughts,
Thanks Ed...

My recurring thing to try.

Dump (uninstall) Norton, Mcafee and turn off UAC and all firewalls. (no connections to the net please!) and then try the install one last time.

If that fails, ask for a refund on the failed product.

UAC is User Accoutn Control...

It's a new feature introduced with Vista that limits what actions users can perform, requiring them to verify admin permission even if they are the admin. Unfortunately some programs will malfunction or simply fail with it enabled so you may want to try disabling it under User Accounts in the Control Panel.

Hope this helps,
John
