- Delete the file with the long name on the d:-drive (you can get it back from the recycle bin afterwards), or temporarily rename it to a shorter filename (the problem could be in a long path, or a long filename, or a combination).
- Boot into safe mode before running scandisk from Windows.

my system is win98s when I sart my pc my pc start scaning my 4 partations c,d,e,f,g and it stop in 21%from the scaning and then it gav me message there is invaled long file name in drive d to fix it run windows scan and when i try to make scan to drive d by following this step sart,program , accessories, system tools, scan disck the scan operation after while stope and dont continue . and there is another messege pc gave to to avoid this messege shut down u pc from start.
