Scandisk Problem at every boot

Aug 12, 2007 3:26AM PDT

Whenever i start my PC the scandisk(chkdsk) starts, it says ONE of your disks need to be checked for consistency, and it scans D Drive and finds no error, however i properly shut it down, even then it starts every time i start my PC. How can I get rid of this.

XP has no SCANDISK program.

There are other software's that do this so fixing it may involve removing that other software.

Also, if it needs to check it and you elect not to then CHKDSK will ask again until it's done. This is no bug.

That scan of D drive seems strange but your post told so little about the PC, where you got scandisk from and more. Let's try this one article about CHKDSK and startup -> http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-72388.php

what happens if you let chkdsk check your D drive, and then you check your C drive with it?

Perhaps carrying out a chkdsk on all your disks/partitions would end the process?
