Scandisk

Whenever I run Scandisk, it never gets to finish as it seems to always be interrupted by something running in the background. This occurs even when I disable my firewall and antivirus program. Has anyone encountered this problem and how did you fix it?

Scandisk

I am just experiencing the same thing (last night). I have tried running Dr Watson, with no help. If you find anything out, please let me know.

Plenty found out. But few use the findings.

There's a post I keep on the first page, but it seems to elude many.

Scandisk...take the time to look!

THx Bob, your reference works just fine. It's a process of elimination but it's a shame that one has to, as in my case, quit all running programs (except for Explorer and Systray) in order to complete a scandisk. I wonder if those with XP experience the same problem?

Rarely in XP.

You'll find a few such posts, but notice that most are "upgraded to XP" and usually an older machine that needs a drive fitness test.
