Question

Scan document for editing

Jul 15, 2014 8:54PM PDT

My old computer had a scan feature for Word docs that was, if checked, allowed for editing the document, instead of scanning it as a picture/photo image. This was extremely helpful, as I did not have to retype the document in order to edit it.

Thanks for any help

Mary Helen

My bet is your old computer

Had a scanner with BONUS SOFTWARE installed that either was purchased or came with the scanner. The feature is called OCR so check with the scanner packaging to see if you still have the CD.

YES! That is exactly what it was-- OCR and I do have the CD. However, before I even dig it out, I know it was before XP (which I am using now and am buyin a new computer with Windows 8 in the next 30 days), so it won't work on these new OS will it?

Thanks
