Scan Disc

Why cant I run scan disc? I have closed all programs using ctrl,alt,delete except explorer and systray but I still cant run scan disc.Any ideas? I am using windows ME.

On most newer machines, just tap the F8 key (repeatedly) during the boot. Usually during the memory check. You should get an option screen. Arrow key up to Safe Mode, then hit Enter. On the next screen select your operating system, then Enter again.
It's best to run all scans in Safe Mode, even virus, spyware and such.

Thanks for the help. I tried to run Scan Disk in Safe Mode but still cant do it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
