Say Hello to IRobi!

Mar 10, 2004 7:26AM PST

My local TV did a story on it today, but there is no link. The lead was a "robotic baby-sitter".

Advances in technology are now seeking to add to the safety of life at home. A local venture company has developed the so-called home robot designed to keep house while no one's home. The robot named "iRobi" according to its maker, Yujin Robotics has a built-in sensor which enables it to move freely. It can also detect entries and gas leakage.

Not that I have $3,000 to shell out, but, if I did, this looks like a winner, at least on the surface.

I wonder what Irobi will do when it detects an intruder. I think a pair of arms would be useful to strangle the burglar or beat him to death. Happy

Hi Angeline

Thats some Robot. "It can also detect Entries, sing and talk" Just what I need to get rid of these door to door peddlers. Especially if it talks Korean.

Good site. I like the Korean cartoons.

Hi, Paul,

It sounds like extra protection re: it's CO2 and smolke detectionon. Maybe the next model will include one for water (broken washewr hoses, leaking water heaters, etc.),

I don't know how young families do it, Paul, much less save for a rainy day, their retirement and the kid's education.

I'm seriously considering it also. Just waiting for my friends to try it and let me know if it's worth it.But don't tell them that.

As my wife doesn't do floors,I saw that and thought about it myself, but then I thought about my constant companion, the kitty. Can you imagine how lively that would probably get? (grin)
