I guess the tension and relief added to it but when I saw the responses here the tears flowed. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes.
James has had a pain in his shoulder for several days, then pain and tingling in the arm and hand, last couple of days fingers numb. Called heart doctor and was given an appointment for Wednesday. This afternoon the pain got very bad and when he called the doctor he was told to go the ER. Considering James' past health history this was frightening to say the least.
After blood tests, EKG, x-rays and Cat scan, an impending heart attack or stroke were ruled out. After all the test were completed, read, discussed and evaluated we were sent home. First time ever that we were sent HOME from the ER! Felt very good!!!
Again, thank you all.
Hi, Rosalie.
VERY glad all went ok -- I had jury duty today (needless to say, they didn't pick me), so I missed the thread until now. Glad my prayers weren't needed -- but of course he'd have had them.

happen are sometimes too much to take. You take care of yourself and spend the day doing things you like and find relaxing.

One thought, may well be irrelevant.
Way, way back, I had the numb fingers, the arm pain, the chest pains, you name it. Ended up collapsed and off to hospital.
It turned out two causes:
1) the arm pains were stress effects - I was breathing too fast. Solved by a regimen of five minutes every day practicing deep breathing, and taking a "breathing" time out whenever the symptoms recurred. Still have to do that 20 years later.
2) the chest pains were because the working too much meant I sat too much, and put on 28 pounds in about six months. Quite literally, there wasn't room in my trousers for me and my brand new belly!
Anyway, hope that may assist. Give James our best regards, we care for you and consequently we care for those important to you.

While I don't disagree with the doctor's diagnoses, I wonder about tendonitis, between the shoulder joint and chest, causing the pain, tingling and numbness in the arm, hand and fingers. I suppose because of swelling and inflammation there could be restricted blood flow. But we are also thinking that perhaps the tension and stress cause by the pain in that area may be the cause of the arm and hand symptoms. Makes sense to me. ![]()
I'm so glad to hear the good news. Hopefully it's just a pinched nerve and tell him to keep the apt. Wed. for extra precaution. keep us utd on his progress and let him know we are still concerned

James went to see our regular doctor today about his shoulder, arm and hand problem. Her diagnosis is tendonitis. The tendon involved is just to right of the shoulder joint. We are both of course much relieved. I guess the heart doctor was being extra cautious when he sent James to the ER but it sure threw a scare into us considering his medical history.
Thank you again for your caring and concern. It really does help to know there are people thinking and praying for you during a stressful time. You just don't know how much until you find yourself there.
I showed James the messages and he also wants to thank everyone.
Glad it turned out to be non-cardiovascular. Wish you all the luck available!
Rosalie, I'm sorry I missed getting a prayer in sooner for your scare, but it appears the SE folks sent enough to get you and your husband through this. The power of prayer always amazes me ![]()
I'm so happy that the news from the doctor was encouraging for you. That must have been so scary.
Take care, and God Bless,
