.... until the early 1990's. Then it was in a small zoo in Alamogordo, NM. It had been injured to the point it could never be released back into the wild. I was awe-struck by its magnificence.
But last year I saw one flying along the river behind me. An effort to save them has paid off in my state!

Yesterday, while working on patching my road, saw a bald eagle fly-by. As beautiful as that was, there was a fish in its talons. Understand, I live in Ohio and at one time, roughly only 20+ bald eagles were accounted for in the whole figgn' state. They have resurged their ranks since, but my flying neighbor has lived across the road in an old microwave tower and is very mature(white head). While, about 10-15mi(as crow flies) from the Lake Erie, maybe 1-2mi. from river and 1/4mi. from stream/creek. I just wondered where he got the fish as it was big one. I figured, the bird passed at 80-115ft. above my head. Wouldn't have noticed until I wiped my brow.
