Question

Saving Web Mail to Local Machine

Oct 20, 2013 3:41AM PDT

Is there a way to save an email I get in outlook.com to my local hdd either as an htm or txt?
Seems the only way one can do this is to use a desktop email client.
Problem is all these email clients have contacts and calendar, which I don't want. I know I don't have to use them if I want.

Depending on which webmail you have...

...you should be able to save your email directly to a file. Details would depend on which webmail you're using, and you didn't provide that info. I'm afraid my dog broke my crystal ball.
But what's wrong with an email client? If they have features you don't want to use, so what? Why is that a problem? You certainly don't have to worry about disk space in this day and age.

Email to HDD

So far I've tried Outlook.com and gmail.
But, neither has any way to do this.

The method depends on the browser, but you can do it.

If you're using Firefox or IE, you can click File, then Save As or Save Page As. You can also right-click the email and use the option to save. However you'd be better off using an email client like Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail. If you don't see File, press the ALT key. With Chrome, you can press ALT-F, then Save As.

I'm using IE Metro and I don't see any option to save the email either in a menu or right clickl.
