Saving .gif files

Recently I have been trying to save a few .gif files off the net. Saving them as a "My Pictures" does not work and saving thing them under "My Videos" does not work at least with what I am doing. Iam NOT a wiz with this stuff and stayed with XP to the bitter end.

Now I am using Windows 7 Home Pro and Opera as my browser (supposed to work like "Chrome") but I also use FireFox.

Any help would be appreciated.
