Save new defaults for endnotes in Microsoft Word 2000?

Jun 7, 2005 5:21AM PDT

Can changes in the default options for Footnotes/Endnotes MS Word 2000 be saved?

I use endnotes frequently at work, but I use Arabic (regular) numerals and have to change from Word's default of lower case Roman numerals every time I need to use endnotes.

Is there a way to save the changed endnote format as a new default?

Many thanks,

Mark

Find normal.dot (the default profile) or the dedicated template you use for this kind of report, change it in the style used for footnotes and save the template again. I suppose this helps for new documents.

It's a very useful feature of Word, to be able to customize the look of documents by using a specific template.

If it doesn't work, record a macro and put it in the template you use, so that changing it to your wishes is a one-button operation. You could even try to make it an autoopen macro so that it is executed automatically when you create a new document. Play with it and see if you can make it in a way that doesn't harm existing documents. But I really don't think this will be necessary.
