common dialog DLL and what is happening is that Windows is reading the directory of files in the directory (folder) you are saving the file to.
This registry edit should work to eliminate the dialog box making suggestions (you may or may not have to shut down and re-boot after the edit).
Open your registry editor (Start > Run > type REGEDIT > click OK)
navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete
In the right side Window right click and create (if not already there) -
for Windows XP - a new DWORD value. Name it AutoSuggest (case and spelling are critical) and ensure it has a data value of 0x00000000(0)
For Windows Vista - a new String value. Name it AutoSuggest (case and spelling are critical) and ensure it has a data value of no
For Windows 7 - a new String value. Name it AutoSuggest (case and spelling are critical) and ensure it has a data value of no
Close REGEDIT and you should no longer have the automatic suggestions dropping down.
Hi,
When I try to save a file (any type) and I start typing the name, the dialog will unfold a list of previously used file names.
How can I clear this list of proviously used file names?
I'm sure windows store them somewhere.
Thanks.
