Question

saumsung un50j6200afxza troubleshooting TV backlight out.

Mar 1, 2018 2:43PM PST

Hi,
I believe I've determined that none of the boards in this TV are bad, I've jumped output pins to the LEDs on the power supply board to get the LEDs to illuminate. S1+ to D1 - and S2+ to D1-. Both jumps illuminate the panel and show an image I'm thinking some of the LED strips are shorted out, causing the working LEDs to not illuminate either. I've tested voltage, I don't see a rise when unplugging the LED feed, and I've done this test with a spare board as well. Would really like a schematic of this TV, can't find one anywhere. Any tips? Advice on the actual issue? About ready to tear this thing down further to get at the strips...

Note also, the strips don't illuminate when the power supply is unplugged from the main board. All other boards have been replaced and tested to no avail, which is why I'm getting down to the LEDs.

On how to test LED strips. That's next.

Tester?

I’ve checked those vids out, any idea on how to run those tests without an overpriced tester? Can you tandem some 9vs together for a similar test? Anything beats a 50+ dollar tester I might use once.

Let's see where folk talk about on that.
